Nebraska

1–2 minutes

I still have no idea why we have a Nebraska.

My wife just asked me what I was working on and I told her I am researching “Lighthouses in Nebraska” She did not immediately go back to bed and circled back and asked me what I found. Everybody wants to know more about Nebraska.

Apparently Nebraska had something to do with that holiday we have all grown to love.
Arbor Day

Arbor Day was officially proclaimed in 1874 by Nebraska’s Governor, Robert W. Furnas, and the day was observed April 10 that year. In 1885, Arbor Day was named a legal state holiday in Nebraska, and April 22 was selected as the date for its permanent annual observance.

Nebraska may be one of the least populated states, but many celebrities call the Cornhusker state home. Fred Astaire, Marlon Brando, Gerald Ford, and Nick Nolte are some of the state’s most famous residents.

In 1992 People Magazine chose Nick Nolte as the “Sexiest Man Alive”.

He loved Arbor Day.
