Pet Dreams

1–2 minutes

Cooper was surprised his side of the wall was absolute chaos.

Snow had fallen the night before flaky with a crusty top.

And it was still snowing quietly, loud enough to be heard.

Just loud enough that Otis took no notice from his garden spot.

You build a wall to keep them in, eventually they will figure it out

It keeps nobody out, even in a dog harass dog world

On one side of the fence the language is cocker spaniel

West of the border they are speaking boarder –as in collie

On a morning from a really bad Bogart movie,
in a county where they turn back time
Lou-Lou strolls through the yard like a Jack Russel
Contemplating committing a crime

She comes out of the garage in a bad mood running
like a delivery truck in the rain
don’t bother asking for explanations
She’ll just bark at you just the same

In the year of the pandemic everybody gets a dog,

hark an unfamiliar bark and a scratch on the fence

Is heard behind giant paws and warm friendly brown eyes

It’s a puppy, bark yap bark yap bark yap makes no sense

I think I need to speak to Otis about such an event though

Luna as she realized her and Otis simply they never spoke

They argued

Snarled

Kicked up dirt

And basically made colossal menaces of their selves.

Cooper walked over to the fence as he is always the bark of reason.

”Hey there Otis who may this puppy be? “ Cooper in dog voice asked Otis.

”I am Emmy Lou” responded the tan lab extending four gigantic paws and random swirling tongue.
