Backyard Nature

We as humans generally like to live with nature and have nature live with us. I am an animal rights person and I still have a lot to learn and get it wrong once in a while.

For example, many of us have a hummingbird feeder in our yard. In the box stores, they market feeders with red mixture for no other reason to make it look appealing. A hummingbird could care less the color of its water or whether it was purchased at Whole Foods or Winco.

They simply desire sugar and they really need a plain white sugar. Please don’t use brown sugar , confectionery sugar or any variation with red food dye. All they want or need is the sugar. And please don’t try to make the sweetest batch of sugar water on the block. It does the hummingbird no good. Against my basic instinct, follow the recipes and keep your hummingbirds Safe and happy
