I have this little thing known as bad genetics. I have this little thing known as cholesterol. I had a surprising big thing known as a heart attack while running.
I have been semi-active since, walking 2 to 3 miles a day with the dogs going out on the river in a kayak and I am content with that.
Yesterday, during cardiac rehab, I had the chance to run. It was in a controlled situation with wires hooked up to me and technicians looking over my shoulder. But I ran, for one minute straight. I ran at a 12 minute and 30 second pace. And then I walked again and then I ran for another minute. I repeated that eight times with a warm down.
And sweat rolled down my back. And it felt really good. I had a slight tint of an endorphin high. To use an age old cliché, it is one step at a time. And the goal is too enjoy those steps along the way.
