- an old car in a dilapidated condition.”his father got worried about him driving that old jalopy—it wasn’t safe”
Our Toyota Matrix was a car “given” to us after our first string car lost a battle with an icy bridge. It was part of an insurance settlement we were not entirely pleased with.
It is a stick shift non the less so it has been around the block. All the kids learned to drive stick on that car. Seven years ago I had to duct tape the fender during a September trip back to Seattle U. That repair is still in place.
The car pretty much got ignored during the pandemic. The tires even went semi flat sitting in the driveway. the maintenance required light has been on for months.
So last night the first string car had an injury and the Matrix was called in once again to make the maiden voyage to Seattle.

The car taught Riley to drive stick, took her back and forth to college and medical visits. This morning the Matrix sits in the driveway waiting for our daughter to give birth.
