Prelude to Snow

1–2 minutes
The gray sky lowered
to meet the horizon
you gave me
A pretzel
A unique Split
The salt
teased my tongue
Suddenly a
deafening
rumble
So quiet as
the salt lingered

A brave dry
leaf clung to
a tree limb
as a cold not quite
freezing breeze
stirred the
first autumnal
Snowflake

so it begins
