Drinking Club With A Running Problem

It was on the day I was convinced to go on a hash run with my friend Sue Reber Jackson. The town was Adamstown, Pennsylvania. It was a hot steamy night where we ran through fields, streams and construction sites. We finished with beers, wanks, songs and a bit of jocularity. The “run” was with the Reading Hash House harriers.

Talk about a pivotal turning point in one’s life. It is here I met so many people who would change the trajectory of my life. Of course, these things could have happened on their own, but I am not a believer in destiny.

I met the mother of my children here. I met a person who got me an interview with that big database firm. I met lifelong friends here, moving from Reading Pa to Washington DC, Seattle and then Portland. I had contacts wherever I went.

The Drinking Club with a running problem has many a detractor. I have seen so much good from this group.

These days I have become more of an introvert but have come to learn that good things happen when get your self out there.
