1–2 minutes

Tell us about a time when you felt out of place.

I stood on the starting line, in Washington DC for the Marine Corps marathon. It was my first marathon, and I had only been running for five or six months.

I called the race Director and he gave me a last minute exemption to get in the race and there I was feeling out of place.

Everyone was so fit, and they looked so darn fast. I guess they called it the imposter syndrome.

I passed through the 1st mile in seven minutes and 11 seconds. I was suddenly one of them.

I held my own and finished a little over three hours later.
