The Mind Has a Mind of Its Own

1–2 minutes

Do you spend more time thinking about the future or the past? Why?

It doesn’t exactly work that way. . I think often about such issues as global warming, equity, and animal welfare. So there’s a fine line there because I am spending time thinking about the present and how it affects the future.

I think it is human nature to think about the past, because the past is concrete and it’s all we have. We speak a lot about nostalgia, but sometimes they’re simply memories. I don’t think we can train our minds to go where we want it to go. it goes where wants to go.

The past and the future are intrinsically interconnected. However, if we spend too much time in the past or the future, we’re missing out on what’s happening here and now.

The question posted today certainly is worth thinking about. For example, I’m going to Europe next Monday and I haven’t even thought about packing. or little planning details right now. I’m thinking about the drywall project I have to do in a few hours.

Where the mind goes is rather interesting. I guess we could train it but what fun would that be?
