Relatively Speaking Jim

1–2 minutes

Do you need time?

Einstein said that our perception of time as a river flowing from past to future is an “illusion,” a conclusion supported by his theory of relativity.

Certainly, I could exist just by measuring where the sun and moons sit in the sky.

I wake up in the morning, pretty much a function of how the light comes in the bedroom. It ends there as today is a cloudy day.

Is I amble with this answer, I’m a little humbled by how much we actually need time. The word need is misused as I should be saying we rely on time and structure. I really want to answer this question that time is an overused construct invented by man.

I hate to admit that some inventions are pretty darn good.

We aren’t here for a long time, but rather to have a good time.

Jim Croce

  • Jim Croce wrote “Time in a Bottle” for his pregnant wife, Ingrid, in December 1970.
  • Croce’s son, A.J., said the song was “an epiphany” for his father, igniting his desire to pursue music professionally

If I could save time in a bottle
The first thing that I’d like to do
Is to save every day
‘Til eternity passes away
Just to spend them with you

If I could make days last forever
If words could make wishes come true
I’d save every day like a treasure and then
Again, I would spend them with you

Jim Croce passed away soon after this song was composed.
