If you could meet a historical figure, who would it be and why?
I really want to meet Bamboo Harvester. We would sit down and have a deep conversation.
- Answering the Telephone: Bamboo frequently used his mouth to pick up the receiver and dial the phone, often to call travel agents, stockbrokers, or other friends, leading to comedic misunderstandings when the person on the other end thought they were speaking to his best friend.
- Writing Letters: He learned to hold a pencil in his mouth and “write” notes or letters, sometimes even signing his name, to further his own schemes or prove a point to his friends.
- Playing Sports: In one memorable episode, he supposedly hit an inside-the-park home run off the real-life Hall of Fame pitcher Sandy Koufax.
- Operating Machinery: he managed to operate various items, such as an ice cream truck, and in one episode, he even “piloted” a plane.
- Giving Advice: Despite being a horse, Ed often provided surprisingly insightful (if self-serving) advice to Wilbur on architecture, relationships, and life, often with a humorous and irreverent tone.
I would love to sit down with Mister Ed, as he was one of the funniest characters I’ve ever seen.
