Tennessee

It was a parallel move of sorts or maybe it was a demotion who knows. I was offered the job and I thought about it for a while.

I was early on into my career. A company I was working for wanted me to move to the Home office. I was working for Black & Decker at the time.

I said no thank you and quit. I went back to grad school. It’s not often you get an opportunity like that.

About a year earlier for the same company, I was offered a promotion for a job in southern Georgia or maybe it was Pigeon Forge, Tennessee. When you’re in your mid 20s, your life can go in many different directions. I probably would’ve married Dolly Parton. She’s not my type. She’s better off without me.

At this point in time, I can’t imagine myself living in rural, Georgia, fishing for bass and drinking cheap beer. I didn’t have life figured out back then.
