What’s a moment when a stranger completely restored your faith in people?

I don’t believe there’s one person, one encounter, one miracle that can restore complete faith in people. So for now, let’s just drop the hyperbole and be realistic and rephrase the question as, describe a complete stranger, that made your day that much better.

I talked to strangers often and I believe encounters such as this, more often reinforce ourselves as human beings and somehow we ourselves can be better.

Many years ago, we were driving to a running race that we never made it to. I believe the race was in Lancaster Pennsylvania. My little sisters were toddlers and sat in the backseat in their car seat. Little that I knew, they picked up my wallet and threw it out the rear window of the car. The wallet ended up on the back of the Susquehanna River. I have no idea the trajectory that Wallet must’ve taken. That is where the wallet was found

I have no idea how the person who found the wallet found me. All my identification indicated I lived in Virginia. I was living in Pennsylvania at the time.

Through grit and determination, they found me. I have found many things in my life including an endorsed check for over $5000.

I always use that as a benchmark for returning things to the right owners. That’s kind of how the world should work.
