• Thorns Game Thievery

Yesterday we were at a Soccer game and there was a pleasant gal and her son sitting next to us. They were avid soccer fans and we had an easy rapport. There were also first time fans around us who were into annoying chit cat rather than watching the match.

So we decided to move our seats at half time as the idle chat was annoying.

Due to security restrictions, one can not take a purse to the game. One must use a clear plastic bag

On the way to the new seats I picked up said clear bag, thinking my wife left it behind, and moved it out new seat.

About 15 minutes later I realized I picked up the woman’s bag sitting next us in our previous seats. So we returned the bag to the same place.

A few minutes later she returned to her seat with security.

“Ma’am is that your bag right there. “

She gave an embarrassed laugh and said.

    “Yeah”

I did walk over and explain the mix up. We all had a nice laugh despite the Thorns were now down 3 to 2.

    Caught Red Handed

We have had problems recently with our well behaved black lab breaking into the cats room and eating their food

And he won’t admit to it.

Until last night, we got home and Cooper had broken into the cat room and could not get back out.

    Try denying that Cooper

  • That Old Jalopy – Matrix

    1. an old car in a dilapidated condition.”his father got worried about him driving that old jalopy—it wasn’t safe”

Our Toyota Matrix was a car “given” to us after our first string car lost a battle with an icy bridge. It was part of an insurance settlement we were not entirely pleased with.

It is a stick shift non the less so it has been around the block. All the kids learned to drive stick on that car. Seven years ago I had to duct tape the fender during a September trip back to Seattle U. That repair is still in place.

The car pretty much got ignored during the pandemic. The tires even went semi flat sitting in the driveway. the maintenance required light has been on for months.

So last night the first string car had an injury and the Matrix was called in once again to make the maiden voyage to Seattle.

The car taught Riley to drive stick, took her back and forth to college and medical visits. This morning the Matrix sits in the driveway waiting for our daughter to give birth.

  • September Perspective

I was walking through our neighborhood marveling at the beauty and remembered September paints it that way.

The air smelled of early September when I ran my first running race many years ago. Took me back to Carter’s Grove road outside Williamsburg Va.

    Leaf blowers blow.

Power to those last tomatoes hanging on. Hang on little tomatoes

Driving back and forth to Seattle in September is a time honored tradition

And rain, welcome back. We missed you.
