• I am mystified by religion and I have a little tinge of jealousy for those who put so much faith into the great unknown.

The entire concept of confession, I must confess confuses me. Reading accounts by priest – many people come in late in life and confess to such events such as abuse and violence against family and friends.

As one priest in fact he basically said “I want to slap them in the face. “ That hardly sounds priestly and rather comes across as human and real.

Somewhere someplace those who are the victims of such acts may or may not have walked into the same church and confessed to actually receiving the beatings or abuse. So basically, clergy sit and witness the crimes.

Lives are ruined and basically life goes on. That’s a sinacal (sic) way to to look at it.

It is a soapbox where I remain, but for now excuse me as there is a boat with 500,000 pairs of animals floating down the river next to my kayak. I confess I have no idea what’s going on.

Today I got a phone call from what appeared to be a telemarketer and I was in that kind of mood where I picked it up. They said I could reduce my interest-rate on my Discover card.

So I went through the motions and of course they asked me for my credit card.

My response was you have to be kidding me.

The person on the other end of the line said no and proceeded to go into an epithet ridden Rampage with the most creative use of the word motherfucker I’ve ever heard.

Obviously, I did not give them my credit card number. Those motherfuckers

  • The Little Things

I have this little thing known as bad genetics. I have this little thing known as cholesterol. I had a surprising big thing known as a heart attack while running.

I have been semi-active since, walking 2 to 3 miles a day with the dogs going out on the river in a kayak and I am content with that.

Yesterday, during cardiac rehab, I had the chance to run. It was in a controlled situation with wires hooked up to me and technicians looking over my shoulder. But I ran, for one minute straight. I ran at a 12 minute and 30 second pace. And then I walked again and then I ran for another minute. I repeated that eight times with a warm down.

And sweat rolled down my back. And it felt really good. I had a slight tint of an endorphin high. To use an age old cliché, it is one step at a time. And the goal is too enjoy those steps along the way.
