• If Women Don’t Find you Handsome

Describe the most ambitious DIY project you’ve ever taken on.

    Foreshadowing

When we were little kids, my father struggled with a Christmas tree that would not stand up straight. To solve the problem, he went down to the basement, pulled out a 6 inch long nail and hammered it into through the living room head floor, and directly into the base of that Christmas tree

    Above My Pay Grade

About seven years ago when we bought this house, I had to install a fence in a short period of time. To make the job go quicker I rented a power auger. My buddy Dan was helping me and we fired up that thing on a Saturday morning. The power auger is used to drill the hole in the yard to put the fence posts.

I was digging one of the holes and the tool kept digging and digging in the ground. It burrowed itself into the ground so that I could not remove it. We had tickets for a soccer game at noon.

We looked at each other. “We can’t just leave this here and somebody will steal it. “

My answer was, if they could dig this thing out, they could have it.

We went to the soccer match and we dug that tool out when we got back.

We did build a really cool fence. I still can’t get the gate to hang right.

At least let them find you handy.

  • When I Was Younger

    When I Was Younger

If you could permanently ban a word from general usage, which one would it be? Why?

    This phrase

You have actually always been younger and as you just read this in a very short time. You literally don’t need the bolded words either.

    Not Here to Share Recipes

Other than those passed down by a two-year-old.

I’m a really good cook, but I’ve never made homemade hummus. I learned the recipe from my 2 1/2 year-old granddaughter.

    She cooks

It’s quite simple, simply slow cook, garbanzo beans, tahini, garlic, olive oil, veggie broth, lemon, and a tad of salt.

    Blender

Once it’s all cooked, last time I did it in a crockpot put all in a blender or use an immersion blender.

    And you’re done

    Some people like actual instruction

    Instructions

    • rinse 16 oz dried chickpeas in a colander and check for stones or foreign objects
    • Add rinsed chickpeas, 1 teaspoon salt, and 7 cups water to a greased slow cooker
    • Cover and cook on low for 8-10 hours or high for 4-5 hours. The goal is to have overcooked, very soft chicken peas
    • Allow to cool a bit and drain water from chickpeas
    • If needed, re-grease slow cooker and return soft chicken peas
    • Add ⅔ cup Tahini, 2 lemons, 3 cloves garlic, 3 tablespoon olive oil, 1 teaspoon salt, and 1 teaspoon cumin to chickpeas
    • Use a strong immerson blender and blend all ingredients in slow cooker until smooth.
    • To make your hummus creamier, add a few tablespoons of ice water* at a time, blending in between until the desired consistency is reached.
  • Living In The USA

    Living In The USA

What is the biggest challenge you will face in the next six months?

Steve Miller wrote the worst lyrics ever put to paper from the song Living in The USA, just for these times.

It’s awkward stupidity puts it perfectly in a monosyllabically way.

Doot do do do do doot doot
    Living in the U.S.A
Come on try it, you can buy it, you can leave it next week, yeah
    Living in the U.S.A
    Somebody give me a cheeseburger
Doot do do do do doot doot
    Living in the U.S.A

    But

Time keeps on slippin’, slippin’, slippin’
    Into the future
Time keeps on slippin’, slippin’, slippin’
    Into the future

I want to fly like an eagle
    To the sea

Steve Miller is a terrible Lyricist.

And Steve Millers lyrics are deeper and more meaningful than what comes from those running our government.
