    Cool Hyperbolic Concept

What’s a moment when a stranger completely restored your faith in people?

I don’t believe there’s one person, one encounter, one miracle that can restore complete faith in people. So for now, let’s just drop the hyperbole and be realistic and rephrase the question as, describe a complete stranger, that made your day that much better.

I talked to strangers often and I believe encounters such as this, more often reinforce ourselves as human beings and somehow we ourselves can be better.

Many years ago, we were driving to a running race that we never made it to. I believe the race was in Lancaster Pennsylvania. My little sisters were toddlers and sat in the backseat in their car seat. Little that I knew, they picked up my wallet and threw it out the rear window of the car. The wallet ended up on the back of the Susquehanna River. I have no idea the trajectory that Wallet must’ve taken. That is where the wallet was found

I have no idea how the person who found the wallet found me. All my identification indicated I lived in Virginia. I was living in Pennsylvania at the time.

Through grit and determination, they found me. I have found many things in my life including an endorsed check for over $5000.

I always use that as a benchmark for returning things to the right owners. That’s kind of how the world should work.

    No Dress Reheasal

If your future self could send you one sentence, what do you hope it would say?

Wow, I just got a note from my future self. My mailman‘s name is Sam and he just delivered it in the mail. It’s pretty cool as the stamp had a picture of Carl Sagan.

It came in a big, highly decorated box with green and purple ribbons and smelled of lilac and patchouli. I opened up one of the boxes and inside was another box. I opened up another box and there was another box. I finally got tom the last box and there was a fortune cookie.

I opened the message and read it slowly.

And wouldn’t you know it, it was an offer for an extended car warranty.

Things never come easy and then I turned over the fortune, cookie message and there in perfect cursive text read the message.

“ This is no dress rehearsal. This is your life.”

What’s a thing you wish schools actually taught?

I was in high school I never took my foreign language classes very seriously and I regret that.

It is rather amazing to speak to people from India or even in country such as Germany in Austria when their English is better than most people in the United States.

My English improved by being married to a German woman.

I realize most schools require language classes. I wish we insisted on having fluency in another language. It is amazing the learning that can happen by learning another culture.

I get it languages aren’t for everybody, but also learning trades should be something that should be encouraged for many students. There’s nothing sexier than a bilingual person who can hang drywall.

My wife sent me a message while I was working and asked me if I wanted to adopt a Juck Russell terror. (Sic)

I thought to myself those are really bad dogs. When your wife is at that stage of the decision-making process it’s a done deal.

Yes, Luna is a pain in the ass, but an adorable pain in the ass. She once got in a fight with a kite.

She has had two expensive surgeries for eating stupid stuff. I have to change my running route constantly to avoid fights.

But she’s a great dog. At first was shy around kids, but she loves the kids. She is loyal for the most part listens. Being cute also helps.

She almost caught a squirrel the other day.

    Dream big.
