    Living In The Past

Write about a time when you didn’t take action but wish you had. What would you do differently?

I have a few of these, and I try not to dwell on them as some decisions lead to future decisions which lead us to toward another place to make bad decisions. Sometimes bad decision. are good decision decisions.

    Discussions With My Mother

I remember after I believe our first daughter was born, my mother said to me. “ Mark, you should have kids at a younger age.”

Mom, I’m in no position to change that right now.

    Baseball

When I was in high school somehow I got a scholarship to play baseball at a school on the East Coast. I decided not to take that scholarship and concentrate on academics. I reconstruct that story to my own liking as there may have been other reasons, but I turned down that scholarship.

Then I decided to go to a big state school.

It all worked out in the end, but I don’t recommend a big school for anybody. I learned better at a small school. I’m not just a number.

I have so many of these stories to tell.

    Buying A House

Right now we’re in the middle of buying a house. We looked at many different houses and decided on one recently. When we make decisions, some happen on gut feel some on analytics and some on experience and some of them don’t make sense.

    Type 2 Errors

When you make a decision Who knows what would’ve happened if you made the other choice.

I left a large database Company many years ago, and if I would’ve stayed, who knows I would probably be rather wealthy. But if I didn’t leave that database company, I would not have gone down the path that I have..

And besides Larry Ellison, is a jackass. He signed my offer letter when I went to work for Oracle. My conscience is clear..

How do you unwind after a demanding day?

Yesterday was one of those days. I personally don’t like to drive. I spenr a good seven hours in the car going up and down the West Coast. I had to be in Everett for a home inspection while our home in Vancouver was being inspected as well.

I’m out of my rhythm right now, but this question was relevant as I got home and I was exhausted. I’m not the type to go to bed because I need to back shift my brain.

I’m not even sure what I do to unwind. Usually I read listen to music or do some artwork. However, yesterday was a little bit different.

If you’ve never stared off into the distance, then your life is a shame
Though I’ll never forget your face, sometimes I can’t remember my name

Sometimes you just stare off into the distance and look for the crescent moon in the western sky.

My name is Mark by the way, it is morning and I got this.

    Have a great day.

    Em Pleh

Jot down the first thing that comes to your mind.

I am better at writing dark stories rather than light hearted and witty. I’ve known a few people who died of the side effects of alcohol. In one particular case, one of my best friends called me wondering if I heard from his ex wife.

We found out she had died one night and was not found for a few weeks. I loosely based the story on that series of events with a happier ending. Itvjust hit the presses today.

    Gordon

Describe a random encounter with a stranger that stuck out positively to you.

Yesterday we were on the world house tour of Seattle and the surrounding area looking at houses. There was one house we approached and I had already written it off as the neighborhood was not walkable. I waited outside with our dog as my wife and the realtor took the tour.

I stood outside and started talking with the next-door neighbor. His name was Gordon and he was awesome. He was from Jamaica. We told stories and laughed. I toured the house later and my wife did the same.

We really wanted to buy the house just because of Gordon.

    Unfortunately, we did not..
