List the people you admire and look to for advice…

I was just making myself some breakfast, it was a simple, vegan egg, and a beyond meat breakfast patty. The breakfast patties just weren’t coming out. I looked at the directions and it said not recommended to microwave. RTFD

    However

I remember before our daughter was born. I went to a class and the title of class it was. They don’t come with directions. That is what parenting is all about. We are winging it get so much unsolicited advice. On a sidenote, her daughter was a premature birth and I missed the last two classes.

The Dunning-Kruger effect is a cognitive bias where individuals with limited knowledge or competence in a domain greatly overestimate their own knowledge or competence. Because they lack expertise, they cannot recognize their own deficiencies, leading to misplaced confidence. It is a “dual burden” of lacking skill and the ability to recognize that lack.

So I tried to get most of my advice by learning everything I possibly can for a variety of sources. Naturally, the problem with that is the more we know the more we know we don’t know..

    Let me check my horoscope.

Restlessness and overshooting may need some taming today, dear Taurus. It can be challenging to know where to channel your energy. Strong pulls towards private or alone time are with you now, with Mars in your privacy sector. Even so, daily business, contacts, and projects are a high draw, making it difficult to know where to begin.

But I kind of know where to begin.

As I am artificial intelligence in the most real way.

    Game Theory

Our Book Club usually plays a bunch of games when we’re done. Our friends son loves to read the directions. We start playing the game and have him read the directions. Sometimes we have to to look to our youth for direction, Or bite the bullet and actually

    Dry and Off The Wall

What topics do you like to discuss?

    Drywall

I rather abhor drywalling. I just spent five minutes covering up some rough patches. If feel dirty like I had afterschool clean the blackboard duty.

    The Wall

Our Pedophile in charge was going to build a wall to keep the pedophiles in the executive branch out of Mexico. It didn’t happen.

    Dry

Do you remember hanging wash on the wash line out back. Damn if your clothes didn’t smell brilliant.

    Wall Street

I don’t care what the Dow Jones is doing today. Give me affordable Health care for all.

This post is simply avoiding getting back to a drywall project I don’t want to do.

What gives you direction in life?

    Paul’s Deli -Williamsburg, Va

I remember one year right before Christmas a bunch of good friends were exchanging gifts before we headed back to spend holidays with our family.

My friend gave me a board game, we ordered a round of beers and broke out the game. Only when we opened up the game, we found there were no directions. Back then there was no Internet, where we could find the directions.

    Next Best Thing

We did what we usually do, we sat down and penned a hyperbolic fun filled letter to the makers of the game. I remember the letter had a backdrop to how the Grinch stole Christmas.. It was fun and in good nature.

So we did the next best thing, we made up our own rules and they were random and without rhyme or reason. But that was the point as that was the fun. The makers of the game actually wrote us back with a jovial letter as well. We never did play the game using the directions. We often referred to that game as out of directions.

    Misplaced Metaphor

So this might be the best misplaced metaphor for how I find direction in life. We are all winging it and life does not come with directions..

  • Enjoy Every Sandwich

Do you have a quote you live your life by or think of often?

Yesterday, I was so busy getting the house ready for appraisal that I ate a sandwich rather quickly and didn’t enjoy it.

Thus negating, one of the Cardinal rules in life.

And that was said by a semi hero to me, Warren Zevon. He battled cancer usually associated with asbestos. On a sidenote, it was the only time I ever got arrested for carrying an open beer at a Warren Zevon concert. I never really enjoyed that beer, but these words ring true..

He said “enjoy every sandwich “

He said it when he was on Letterman for the final time before his death. “Letterman asked Zevon how the diagnosis had shaped his life over the past several months. “You put more value in every minute,” he noted. “It’s more valuable now. You’re reminded to enjoy every sandwich.” https://ultimateclassicrock.com/warren-zevon-final-letterman/
